The Age of the Self-Sacrificing Woman is Over

If you ever felt you had to

  • push down your ambition

  • delay your own goals

  • silence your own voice

  • betray your own body

  • wait for some magical time when it's "your turn"

  • barter, trade, or negotiate to get your needs met

this was lovingly crafted for you.

When a woman is holding a lot (is she ever not??) society usually convinces her that she needs a better tool or system, a larger community of support, or more knowledge, awareness, or resources.

And so she searches.

She optimizes her planner, adds another course, builds a bigger network, hires more help. All of this is incredibly useful. But none of it is enough.

Because before the systems and the structures and the support, there's a more fundamental question:

are you resourced from within?

This talk is about sovereignty, but not as a buzzword - as the felt, embodied belief that you are allowed to make choices that benefit you first. That you belong wholly and completely unto yourself in every moment of the day. Without that internal foundation, every external fix will eventually feel like another thing to manage or another role to perform.

We'll name what actually severs women from their sovereignty, and the conditions that make reclaiming it possible.

You'll leave with real, actionable practices for rebuilding that internal trust.  Not in theory, but strategy you can use immediately.

Because when a woman is resourced from within, her external life doesn't need to be forced into alignment. It shifts naturally - on its own.

The cost of not choosing yourself is too high.

Voluminous tears were cascading down my burning red face. In that moment, I was 100% white hot burning rage.

And I was not apologizing for it.

I raged against the stories that make me choose between being a mother and chasing my ambition.

I raged against the stories that say I “have to” wait until my youngest is in school before I can fully unleash my gifts.

I raged against the stories that say a woman can never be fully satisfied without sacrificing the happiness or wellbeing of those around her.

Fuck that.

What I have learned and know to be true for me is that I don’t have a sacrificial bone in my body.

I can’t do it.

I won’t do it.

My body, heart, and soul won't allow it.

They'll nag and prod, then push and scream, then burst forth with their lament that you are not wired for sacrifice.

And I don't believe any woman is designed for self-sacrifice.

I will honor myself no matter what.

Even on the days it requires a little extra planning, or an extra cup of half caff coffee with lunch.

Even on the days I can feel the weight of every card stacked against me.

Even on the days when I am wondering what the fuck I’m doing trying to raise 4 kids and work with a toddler still at home.

And then I remember the cost of not doing it.

The resentment that festered like a wound in my gut for 6 years.

The rage that would bubble up at innocent questions from my kids.

The deep soul crushing, deadening collapse of feeling when I denied the purpose and dreams of my soul.

And, I remember the times I built something incredible in the snatches of nap times, on my phone while pushing the stroller around the neighborhood, or in the quiet after bedtime moments with the lamp glowing brighter as the moon rose higher.

This past season served me up a heavy dose of my own medicine: reclaiming my sovereignty and choosing myself.

From this place, The Sovereignty Gap was born.

But Choosing Yourself Isn’t Always Easy

Put myself first?

Sure, that feels easy.

I'm a boss at setting boundaries and "no" is my favorite word.

But the thing that felt hard to admit to is the occasional hangover that came after choosing myself.

The voice that creeps in saying, you better explain yourself so others don't think you're being a neglectful mother.

You should probably preface this with an “I'm sorry” so they know you're not trying to be harsh.

Is it really ok to be choosing myself this often if I'm also responsible for my kids' childhood experience?

Am I doing enough?

Am I too much?

And on and on and on. 😖

There's already a huge difference between knowing you can put yourself first, and then actually doing it.

And then there’s the added nuance of putting yourself first, and then being OK with it.

That's what I designed The Sovereignty Gap for.

You can be done with the sacrificial story of modern womanhood, and still cringe inwardly when it's time to do the thing.

I can help ease that feeling.

The constriction.

The tightness in your throat.

The rumination.

The internal struggle that ensues after choosing yourself.

In The Sovereignty Gap, you’ll learn a new way to relate to those voices that speak up before, during, and after you put yourself first.

In this virtual workshop, you’ll learn

01
A definition of sovereignty you can use as a guidepost and test against your own daily lived experience.

Not the poster version, but a specific marker: sovereignty means noticing the moment you're about to say yes (to a request, a role, a "should") and asking whether that choice is coming from your own resourcing or from guilt, obligation, or the fear of disappointing someone. You will leave with language for that exact moment, so "sovereignty" stops being a concept and becomes something you can catch yourself doing (or not doing) in real time.

02
Clarity on what actually severs you from your sovereignty so you stop trying to "fix" a problem that's not yours.

Most self-aware, evolution-seeking women default to adding (more tools, more support, more knowledge) when what's missing is internal. This takeaway names the real conditions of severing, so you can stop chasing external solutions to an internal gap.

03
Concrete practices for reclaiming sovereignty - a simple starting toolkit designed for busy women.

Actionable strategies you can implement immediately to rebuild trust in your own internal authority, so the shift isn't theoretical.

This is for you if

  • choosing yourself feels hard

  • putting yourself first sounds or feels selfish

  • you think a lack of time, systems, or support is what’s holding you back

  • you know how to put yourself first, but the hangover of internal debate afterwards is taking a toll.
